Mont-Tremblant, in the province of Quebec, Canada, is a city located in the Laurentian Mountains, about 125 kilometers from Montreal. Although sometimes informally referred to as a "county" of Mont-Tremblant, administratively it is part of the Laurentians region. The current city was formed from the merger of several municipalities in 2000 and comprises various districts, including the city center, the popular Tremblant resort, and the Village, affectionately known as the Old Town.
The latter retains a particularly tranquil atmosphere. Located near Lake Mercier, the Village de Mont-Tremblant blends historic buildings, small shops, cafes, and restaurants with Quebec's characteristic wooded landscape. The old train station, now an exhibition space, and a historic church are reminders of a time when life in the region moved at a much more leisurely pace. A Curious Fact: Three Environments in a Single City Mont-Tremblant has the unique characteristic of offering very different experiences within easy reach of one another. The town center, the Old Village, and the mountain resort each have their own distinct personalities. While the resort is lively and pedestrian-friendly, the Village offers a more local and serene atmosphere. Furthermore, the trails of the old railway line connect parts of these landscapes and can be used for cycling in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter. |

What to Do and What Flavors Not to Miss
A visit to Mont-Tremblant should begin with a leisurely stroll through the Village and its surroundings, followed by a hike, bike ride, or water activity during the warmer months. In winter, skiing, snowshoeing, skating, and cross-country skiing completely transform the landscape. Tourist activities are available year-round and change with the seasons. For a meal, a great experience is to find one of the bistros in the Village and try traditional Quebec dishes, especially poutine, made with French fries, curdled cheese curds, and gravy. Depending on the restaurant and portion size, a casual meal can cost approximately US$15 to US$25 per person, not including drinks or tax. Prices may vary depending on the season and the establishment. As for celebrations, Mont-Tremblant maintains a busy calendar of concerts, sporting events, and festivals. Among the events scheduled for 2026 are Salsa Tremblant, featuring Latin music and dance, and the Fête de la Musique, which brings together numerous free performances in the pedestrian village. December also sees the 24h Tremblant, a major sporting and charity event. |

| How to Get There, Where to Sleep and When to Travel
From Montreal, the drive to Tremblant takes approximately 90 minutes and covers about 125 kilometers. From Ottawa, the trip takes about two hours. For international travelers, Montréal-Trudeau Airport is a major gateway, and direct shuttle services to the area are available during certain seasons. Accommodation options are varied: there are inns and small guesthouses in the Village, as well as hotels and tourist condominiums in the resort area. As a general guideline, a double room can be found for approximately US$120 per night during off-peak seasons, although prices increase considerably during school holidays, weekends, and the ski season. Getting around without a car is possible. Mont-Tremblant offers a free shuttle bus service connecting the town center, the Village, and the mountain resort. The best time to visit depends on your desired experience: June to September is ideal for lakes and hiking; September and October for viewing the autumn colors; and December to March for enjoying the snow and winter sports. |

| Practical Tips for Enjoying it More
It's advisable to book accommodation and activities in advance during the ski season and autumn weekends. The weather can change quickly, so layering is recommended even in summer. In winter, a good coat and waterproof footwear are essential. Mont-Tremblant is generally an organized tourist destination, but as with any trip, it's wise to keep an eye on your belongings, respect trail markings, and check the weather forecast before venturing out into nature. |
